Cards cards cards

A long time ago, I had an album that showed up on my page, and it was a lot of cards that I had made. Some time or other when I didn't notice, they stopped showing them. So here are a few cards and what they are, just to remember what I did, and to maybe give me some inspiration to make new cards.

This is iris folding. I did quite a bit of it for awhile. There are lots of patterns and tutorials out there.

Google "iris folding" for more patterns. I did a heart, and more that I don't remember. It was awhile ago LOL

A simple card, colored flowers on the right and just framed. It was before I had anything like a paper cutter, die cut machine or anything so it wasn't straight. On the left was a scrap of wallpaper!! I still have a few of those teensy butterfly charms.
A cut up magazine advertisement. with hand done borders and lettering at the bottom. Fun.

A variation on the layout above. By this time I had gotten a heart punch. Still had very little supplies, but had a great deal of fun.
Before I got my cuttlebug, I got a little machine called a Cuttlekids. I figured I would just try it out and see if it was what I wanted. I got easily hooked. This little turtle was part of the first set I got. Still have it. It is really intricate, too hard for little kids I think.

A doodle inspired by those silvery stickers. My first markers were Crayola ones, these were the thin ones. I liked the doodle enough to make copies and I made several cards like this.
I figured out that I could use the "watermark" setting on the computer to print out backgrounds. The only problem was it didn't go all the way to the bottom of the page. Looks like I planned it though. I should do this again. The package was from the Cuttlekids machine.
Simple patterned paper with hand lettered sentiment. I have been thinking of ordering a "happy autumn" stamp set, I could just do it myself. The paper has glitter and shine. Love it. Another one I could do something similar with.
This one I did with an embossing folder and aluminum foil. I made the mistake of trying to "antique" it and should have done it before gluing it on. The stamp is from Michael Strong. Another technique I'd like to try again.

Much prettier in person..
The tree is made with a Martha Stewart punch. I saw it somewhere and made a lot of these trees for cards one Christmas. The sentiment was done on the computer. I did that a lot back then. I have lots of stamps now, but I could have kept on doing it on the computer, would have been cheaper!
Another Christmas card. The Michael Strong set has 3 sizes of trees and dies to match. The red I ran through a crimper that I HAD to have; haven't used it much. Get it out, Lindy.

This was a stencil from Club Stamp. I think it was the first stencil I got. It was a one layer card. I don't remember how I did it, I didn't have an embossing gun or anything yet. But I like the simplicity of the design, and I still have the stencil.

I love this effect. I still use this embossing folder. I tore the pink and glued it on the white card stock, embossed it, and then used a white pen to trace the embossing. I've done lots of variations of this over the years with different embossing folders.
The background is an embossing folder with highlights on the raised part. And an adorable kitty stamp from .... somewhere.
I just had to have this Mickey die, and I cut it out of sparkly foam and put it on top of Mickey Halloween paper. I'd like to find more Mickey paper, I only got a sheet of it. But I do still have Mickey.

The dots in the background I did on my Cuttlebug. The flowers are a brass stencil that I inked and ran through the cuttlebug. I forgot about doing that; I wonder where I put the brass stencils. ... that is real ribbon and lace on there. Haven't done that in awhile either.

So there are some cards. I glue things together much straighter than I did then. I'm also more picky with my embossing, and use an embossing powder bag to avoid all those nasty spots.

But I've learned a lot, and had a lot of fun over the years, and spent way too much money, and gotten rid of a lot of stress doing this stuff.

About Me

My photo
just a crafty grandma experimenting with all sorts of things. My main interests are paper craft of any kind and quilting/sewing. But I've done leatherwork, polymer clay, on-the-wheel pottery, painted molded ceramics, papier mache, stained glass, plaster casting, linoleum printing, paper making... you name it, I've probably tried it. A few I actually stuck with. :)
